The creative design work of Zak Pierce

Zak Pierce has been working within the design and visual communication industry since 1996. Starting in the San Francisco area designing rock-art posters, Zak studied multimedia at one of California’s most highly acclaimed technical colleges. In addition to designing web sites, training in pre-press management resulted in a specialisation in multi-page print design for product catalogues and magazines for various California companies.

A position at tristream – at the time one of San Fran’s largest web design studios – moved Zak back into a more online focus for the booming high-tech industry, working on global projects for companies like Cisco Systems, Logitech and telestream. In 2001, escaping the dot-com crash, Zak founded Wooden Pier as a business for his freelance design work and moved abroad working for an array of international clients in Asia while maintaining business relationships and ‘telecommuting’ to many of his old US based clients.

In 2003, Zak settled in Melbourne Australia and completed a degree in Visual Communication from Monash University. He has worked as a freelance designer for numerous studios, inhouse for a variety of companies and has held design contracts for government departments in Australia and Fiji.

Zak still enjoys traveling and when not in front of a computer, can be found deep in the Victorian bush or fishing off a reef in Fiji.
